What the first months look like
Weeks 1–4: you start on the lowest dose (2.5 mg once weekly for tirzepatide) so your body can adjust. Many people notice less appetite in the first few weeks.
Months 2–5: if you tolerate it, your physician may increase your dose in 2.5 mg steps at least 4 weeks apart, up to a maximum of 15 mg.
Month 6 and beyond: you stay on the dose that works best for you. In the SURMOUNT-1 trial, weight continued to fall through 72 weeks of treatment. Individual results vary.
